SCHOOL BUILD - ZAMBIA
A new school is being built in the memory of Iain Beaudoin, son of Bob and Claudia Beaudoin, who passed away suddenly on November 14, 2008. Iain was a promising lawyer, following in his father's footsteps, both highly respected members of the Ottawa legal community. Since his death, members of the Ottawa legal community have expressed interest in building a school in a developing country, in Iain's memory and have asked to partner with Emmanuel. A new school is being built in Munenga, a remote village in the Southern Province, some 35 km west of Mazabuka. The nearest school is 8 km distant and many of the children in the area have never attended school.
Emmanuel United Church assisted the Ottawa legal community in the funding of this project through the United Church of Canada's partnership with the People's Action Forum (PAF) in Zambia.
