DESCRIPTION:Join us for tubing at Domaine de l’Ange-Gardien located at 1031 Pierre Laporte Road\, L’Ange-Gardien\, Quebec\, followed by dinner together at Emmanuel and then we will finish the evening off with some family friendly games! \nMeet at Emmanuel at 12:30 pm (have lunch before arriving!)  We will drive to Domaine de l”Ange-Gardien (about a 40 minute ride from the church). \nTickets can be bought in advance; kids under 12 are $21; kids over 12 and adults are $24. Families can pay for tickets or make a donation toward the cost as they are able\, otherwise Emmanuel can help cover the cost. \nAround 4:30\, we will leave the hill to return to Emmanuel for dinner (at approximately 5:30 pm) followed by board games. People are welcome to join us for the dinner and evening program at 5:30 pm.

DESCRIPTION:The Emmanuel United Church 2024 Annual Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday\, February 23\, 2025.\n\n\nA light lunch will be served in the lounge following the Sunday morning worship service. Please serve yourself a plate of food and something to drink and resume sitting in the Sanctuary. The meeting will start at approximately 11:30 am.\n\n\nEveryone is welcome to attend.\n\n\nIf your children wish\, they can go back downstairs with Amelia before the start of the meeting.\n\n\nThe meeting will be streamed (use the same link as the Sunday morning worship service) but online viewers will not be able to vote.\n\n\nVoting Rights will be in accordance with section 5.2 of the Emmanuel United Church Constitution\, which states that adherents have voting privileges unless otherwise decided at the meeting. SUMMARY:Red Dress Day
DESCRIPTION:May 5th is National Red Dress Day. It is a day to remember the Missing and Murdered Indigenous women\, girls\, men\, and two-spirit people (MMIWG2S+) in Canada. Emmanuel participates in the REDress Project by hanging red dresses and shirts in the trees outside of the church building along Smyth Road. \nThe installation is intended to draw the eye of those passing by and introduce them to the on-going plight of the MMIWG2S+ people and their communities.  The installation is a solemn memorial to those whose lives were lost\, and in support of grieving families still waiting for justice.  Canadians are encouraged to wear red on May 5th in tribute to the thousands of Indigenous people still being victimized\, murdered or missing in our society.

SUMMARY:100th Anniversary of the UCC
DESCRIPTION:100th Anniversary Celebrations \nOn Sunday June 15th at 11:00 there will be a service of celebration for churches in the Eastern Ontario region.  It will be held at the EY Centre (near the airport).  This service will be livestreamed for those who do not wish to attend in person and will be 90 minutes long. There will be NO service at Emmanuel that morning. \nThere will be an opportunity for interested people to participate in a massed choir.  This group will meet prior to the service to rehearse together.  If you wish to be part of this group (even if you are not a part of the Emmanuel choir)\, contact Joan Foster-Jones for more information. \nIf you are interested in sharing transportation to the event (either car-pooling or on a bus) please contact Phyllis MacRae or Joan Foster-Jones. \nA group of quilters in Kemptville will be creating a special 100th anniversary quilt to be used at the service as well as subsequent regional events.  A block representing Emmanuel (our church logo) has been sent to be included in this quilt. \n\nOther services are being planned:  \n\nJune 8th – there will be a national service livestreamed from Gower Street United Church in St. John’s NL.\nJune 10th – a service will be televised on Vision TV with participation from congregations all over the country.
