Activities & Fellowship

Active Artists

The Active Artists is a group of artists that meet in the Multi-Purpose Sunday School Room on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Regular members of the group paint in acrylics. Some of their artwork can be found on display throughout the church. Everyone is welcome to drop-in. Come with your own supplies to draw, sketch, paint, etc. Bring your own lunch and enjoy a social time to be creative.  For more information, please call the church office at 613-733-0437.

Book Club

The Emmanuel Book Club meets the second Monday of the month from September to November and January to May, with a year-end meeting in June. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. with a social time followed by a discussion of the book at 7:30 p.m. They enjoy current fiction with a balance between Canadian and international authors. They attempt to look for images of God in the books chosen and to learn more about our world through literature.

Meetings are held on ZOOM but we are open to return to the church for an in-person meeting in the fall and spring. Here is the schedule for 2023-204:

Sept. 11 ~ The Last Train to London by Meg Waite Clayton

Oct. 9 ~ King Peggy by Peggieine Bartels and Eleanor Herman

Nov. 13 ~ Agent Sonya by Ben MacIntyre

Gardening and Food Sovereignty

We have flower beds and vegetable gardens that need tending. If you have a green thumb or you would like to learn how to garden, your involvement would be most appreciated. The harvest we grow in our gardens is shared with our local food banks and is used to produce healthy meals for our seniors.

Men's Club

The Men’s Club is a social club that provides fellowship to the men of the church. It meets once each month for breakfast at Perkins Restaurant, at the corner of St. Laurent and Coventry, when a wide variety of topics are discussed. The Men’s club also participate in several fundraising activities for the church such as the baking of turkey pot pies and baked beans for the Holiday Bazaar and organizing the Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper. Come join us and share in the good fellowship and fun!  For more information, please contact Jon Jones at

The Communications Committee will be hosting a series of movie nights in the fall and winter. Movies are on a variety of themes and suitable for a range of ages. Members of the community are welcomed. Free admission but free will donations are welcomed. Snacks are available for purchase. The dates and movies will be announced in the fall. The Emmanuel Quilting Group meets and works in Room 7 on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. New members are always welcome. Drop by if you would like to see a “work in progress” or if you would like to try out this activity.  We work on a variety of projects including donations for Victoria Quilts (an organization supplying quilts to cancer patients), banners for the church and fundraising for the church.  For further information, contact Joan Foster-Jones.
