Volunteer

Emmanuel United Church provides a multitude of opportunities for individuals and families to participate in the life and work of the church. It is through the dedicated efforts of volunteers that our programs and services continue to thrive and flourish.

Each year during Stewardship month in October, we distribute a Time and Talent Survey to the congregation to inform us of your interest in a particular area. If you have a gift to share that is not included in the survey, please let us know.  Every contribution is important and very much appreciated.

Listed below are just some of the ways that you can contribute:

Worship Service

Volunteers play a big part in our Sunday worship services.  Ushers and lay readers are needed each week.  On Communion Sunday, we need help preparing and serving Communion. If you are familiar with audio-visual equipment, or willing to learn, your assistance with operating the sound board and video camera for Sunday morning worship, would be most appreciated.

Following the worship service, we host a time of Coffee & Conversation.  Volunteers are need to make and serve coffee, tea and lemonade for a time of fellowship.  Help with cleanup is also required.

Love to sing?  Join one of our choirs or musical groups

Join the decorating committee and assist with the beautification of the Sanctuary for Sunday morning worship.

Children and Youth

If you love working with kids, we have opportunities for helping in the nursery, teaching Sunday School and assisting with youth activities

Property Care

Do you have a passion for gardening?  Do you know your way around a tool belt?  Help us keep the church beautiful, safe and in good working order.

Service and Outreach

Emmanuel United Church carries out service, outreach and social action projects to serve the needs of people both locally and globally.  We provide volunteer support for the Isaruit Inuit Art Centre, Multifaith Housing Initiative, local Food Banks and other initiatives.  On a bi-monthly basis, we conduct a food drive for a local food bank – help with food collections and deliveries is greatly appreciated.

Special Events

Emmanuel hosts several events throughout the year, including the Spring Community Yard Sale, Strawberry Social, Christmas Bazaar, An Evening of Christmas Readings and the “Just Gifts” Christmas Market.  Your talents can help make these events successful.
